Dr Haseeb Drabu announced few gender specific budgeting initiatives which he said is in respect to the first women chief minister of the state.

The first initiative he announced was Government will to “waive off the fee of all girl students in the state government run educational institutions up to the higher secondary level.”

He further said that in order to given women level playing field, “10 per cent area in all industrial estates of the State shall be reserved for women entrepreneurs.”

To equip women with skills, Dr Drabu announced to set up “two Entrepreneur Development Centres in Srinagar and Jammu.”

Already started in Srinagar, the government has earmarked an additional amount of Rs 5 crore “for a dedicated city bus service for women in Srinagar and Jammu cities.”

Regarding the set-up of women police stations, Dr Drabu said that “four more women police stations will be set up in Pulwama, Kupwara, Kathua and Udhampur”.

He also said that provision has been made “to provide exclusive women toilets in all the state, district and sub district hospitals.”
