SRINAGAR: National Conference (NC) Chief Farooq Abdullah, speaking on the issue of demand for temples in Kashi and Mathura, said no matter how many temples you build and demolish mosques, the way of God cannot be closed.

“You can build as many temples as you want, demolish as many mosques as you want. But God’s path will not be closed,” Farooq Abdullah said in an exclusive interview with national television News channel. Abdullah said there are several religions and huge diversity in the country and everybody should be allowed to live.

On the recently implemented Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, he said, “I don’t know what they are trying to do. Let them do whatever they want. When they brought farm laws, we went against them… then what happened, they repealed the three laws before the UP elections.”

“The Constitution can be amended, but the Quran cannot be changed,” he added. The NC Chief also responded to the question on the issue of Pakistan by saying that India needs to be friends with neighboring countries, including Islamabad.

“Vajpayee Ji said that friends can be changed, but neighbors can’t be changed. If you live in peace with the neighbors then you will progress. If you won’t then the progress of both the countries will be stalled. I am of the same view,” the Lok Sabha MP said.
