SRINAGAR: After flying from Delhi to Jammu, Apni Party founder, Syed Altaf Bukhari said the proposed delimitation report is aimed at disempowerment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and must be withdrawn. He hoped that the Prime Minister will look into it and ensure the party interests are not superimposed on the security of the country.

Addressing a news conference in Jammu, Bukhari asked the associate members of the Commission – the five MPs, to reign because they have failed in protecting the interests of the people. They might have secured the interests of their partiers but they were not there for their parties but the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Sipping coffee, somewhere, they (Commission) have made a strong effort to divide the state into regional lines,” Bukhari said, insisting the proposals have disenfranchised the people. “But the people of Jammu and Kashmir need to be congratulated that they have not fallen into the trap.”

Bukhari said sections of the society have been completely ignored including Jatts and Sikhs. He said some constituencies which were carved out near borders with issues linked to security have been undone. He said the Commission has nearly succeeded in disempowering the people.

Insisting that strange things have been suggested and in certain cases, it may involve people flying to vote because they have been divided.

“Some people right now in their graves must be very happy,” Bukhari said. “The one who is behind the Dixon plan and the army general who devised the (operation) Gibraltar and Topoc”.

Bukharis said the election process is about to complete and he hopes that the Prime Minister and Home Minister look into the catastrophe and withdraw the report that has serious security implications. “No party is above the security of the country,” he insisted.

Insisting that the youth are being deliberately pushed to the wall on the issue of job opportunities. “We are pushing them to drugs and then we are happy to inaugurate drug deaddiction centres,” Bukhari said. “If you wish to destroy the future, let us know from you.”

Bukhari said the employees are being harassed like others. Every day, he said the employees are being asked to file a new form and offer details. He said the officers from Jammu and Kashmir are not being given proper positions.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is the epitome of sacrifices for the country. He said the Kashmiri Pandits are being used like election posters.
