SRINAGAR: At least eight shops have been looted by burglars in Kangan market of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

An official told the news agency KNO that burglars have looted at least eight shops and have decamped with cash and other valuable items.

The incident has created resentment among the local population. “We are really concerned over such incidents and demand stern punishment for the culprits,” said a local adding that all such incidents often happen here.

Meanwhile, a police official said they are ascertaining the facts and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered while further investigation was going on.

He, however, said that details of property stolen has not been ascertained yet.
