Militants on Friday offered a gun salute to their slain commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district ahead of his second death anniversary.

Reports said that a group of militants appeared at the grave of Burhan and fired many shots in the air to pay tribute to their slain commander.

Reports added that the sudden gunshots created a sort of panic in the area.

Burhan Muzaffar Wani, slain Hizb commander was killed on July 8, 2016, at Bamdoora village of Kokernag in Islamabad district of south Kashmir. Burhan’s killing had triggered a mass uprising in Kashmir and around 120 civilians were killed. Thousands of youth were injured during protests across Kashmir.

Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik has called for a valley-wide shutdown on July 8.
