The state cabinet, which met Wednesday, with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Chair, scrapped the new job policy.

The decision came days after National Conference-Congress alliance faced a rout in the Lok Sabha polls, losing all the six seats in the state.

Under the recruitment policy of 2011, the appointees for Class-IV and non-gazetted posts are, during the first five years of appointment, given a meager amount as stipend instead of regular salary. The policy had triggered massive resentment among the state’s educated youth.

The cabinet also approved the appointment of K Rajindra Kumar, as the Director General of Police J&K relieving Ashok Prasad.

The cabinet also approved to make the employees of SKICCs job pensionable.
