SRINAGAR: Suspected militants shot at a young man who runs Shopian’s main cable network for last more than 15 years. He had multiple injuries and was rushed to the local hospital where from he was shifted to Srinagar. He breathed his last near Pulwama, informed sources said.
Hilal Ahmad Malik was 35 years old and father of a son who is around 3 years old.
Malik and some of his friends were gossiping near the main gate f the district hospital. This was their favorite evening routine.
They were talking and two men came from Bungam side. They were hooded. One of them fired at him and he fell down there. It was an ambulance driver of the same hospital who took him to the hospital. He was given first aid and an ambulance started driving him to Srinagar because he has various bullet injured including one in his abdomen.
“Beh Bacha,” Malik told Kashmir Life reporter in the hospital. (It means: will I survive?)
As the ambulance reached Pulwama, reports said, the attendants accompanying him declared him dead. It was not immediately known, if the massive blood loss was the reason.
Malik belonged to a well to do family. He was running Friends Cable for last 15 years after he took over the defunct system from other person.
No militant outfit has claimed the responsibility for the attack. Nobody is in a position to offer details abouyt why the operator was attacked.
