Scores of people on Sunday evening staged candlelight protest at Press Colony Lal Chowk in Srinagar district in solidarity with a minor rape victim from Kathua.

The protesters carrying banners and placards with Asifa’s picture chanted slogans against authorities for failure to arrest the culprits behind the brutal act.

The candlelight protest was organised by youth in solidarity with eight-year-old nomad girl Asifa Bano of Rasana village of border district of Kathua had gone missing on January 10 and her body with torture and violence marks was recovered on January 17.

Protesters carried banners which read: “Justice for rape victim Asifa, Black day for humanity, Killers must be punished, Hang Rapist.”
