In two twin incidents three persons including a minor were injured after being attacked by canines in Sopore on Thursday.

The injured included Habibullah Lone and Mohammad Ashraf Mir, both residents of Hatlangoo, Sopore and another minor whose identity could not be ascertained.

Two victims have been rushed to SMHS Srinagar for specialised treatment.

A resident of the area told Kashmir Life over phone, “elderly Habibullah was attacked by dogs in his neighbourhood in which his three teeth were broken.”

He was rushed to District Hospital Sopore where from doctors referred him to SMHS. Mohammad Ashraf Mir was injured in his arm.

In another gruesome incident at Janwara, Sopore a six year old boy was mauled by canines. “In the attack boy’s face was disfigured,” said a resident from Janwara.

He was bleeding profusely while being taken to hospital in Sopore. “Doctors was referred him to SMHS Srinagar.”

When contacted, Block Medical Sopore told Kashmir Life, “out of the three patients that were brought here, two had extensive wounds on neck and head.”

“After anti-rabid vaccine (ARV) was administered to them, one elderly Habibullah and six year old boy was referred to SMHS for ‘immoglobin’ – an advanced treatment in canine bite cases,” he said.
