Car explodes on Kashmir highway, no casualty

Srinagar

Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway was stopped on Saturday after an explosion occurred inside a car in Ramban district.

An official said that the explosion occurred inside a private car, which was a Santro and completely destroyed the vehicle.

“The CRPF present at the spot found urea, an oil bottle, and one LPG cylinder among the things recovered from the Santro,” said an official.

“The explosion appears to have been caused by a gas cylinder inside the car but this is based on preliminary examination of the car’s wreckage ANI quoted a police officer as having said.

“There was no loss of life…The driver of the car, who was the lone occupant, appears to have escaped,” the officer said.

Further, a CRPF convoy was at a significant distance from explosion site but sources said that the explosion didn’t not seem to be an attack.

More details are awaited.
