Car Skids Off Road in South Kashmir, Five Injured

   

SRINAGAR: Five persons were injured, two of them seriously, after a Swift car skidded off the road and fell into a ditch near Dungimarg at Peer Ki Gali in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, officials said.

The accident involved a Swift car bearing registration number JK12D-2286.

According to initial reports, the vehicle met with the accident near Dungimarg along the Peer Ki Gali stretch after the driver allegedly lost control, causing it to plunge into a roadside ditch.

Five persons travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries in the incident.

Officials said two of the injured suffered serious injuries, while three others received minor injuries.

The accident triggered a rescue operation in the area as locals and emergency responders rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured from the damaged vehicle.

The identities of the injured and details regarding their medical condition were not immediately available.

Police and other concerned authorities are expected to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

The Peer Ki Gali-Mughal Road stretch frequently witnesses difficult driving conditions due to sharp curves, high elevation and adverse weather conditions. [KNT]
