SRINAGAR

Police Thursday registered a case against a 38-year-old man from Old Srinagar city who allegedly cheated as many as four young women under the pretext of marrying them.

The police filed an FIR against Parvez Kamrade resident of Dabtal Aalikadal Srinagar after her fourth wife from Gujrat accused him of deceit and fraud. “Parvez came to Gujrat in 2001 and with the consent of my family, we entered into wedlock as he gave an impression that he was still a bachelor,” Shahida Banoo a resident of Ghodra Gujrat told CNS adding soon after marriage they settled in Rajasthan where he established a Handicraft shop.

She said that as the floods hit Valley, Parvez left for his home with the assurance that he will be back after ten days. “I was worried about his well-being as he did not respond my repeated phone calls. When I arrived here in Srinagar, I was shocked to know from his brothers that Parvez has already married thrice and now he has a new wife from Pirbagh area of uptown Srinagar. His brothers did not allow me to stay in their hosue and I was forced to take a room on rent,” she said.

While displaying his wedding documents and photographs, Shahida said that police station MR Gunj has registered a case against Parvez after she approached the Police station. Seeking justice, Shahida said that Parvez has ruined her life and he deserved a stern punishment.

When contacted, a police official told CNS that they have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
