A cordon and search operation continued on the second consecutive day in Badarhama village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

The counter insurgent forces had launched CASO in Badarhama village of Shopian on Wednesday after inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

“There was a brief exchange of gunfire between army and militants on Tuesday morning, from that very time no contact has been established,” a police official said.

“More forces are being used to conduct the operation. A large number of security forces were rushed to the area,” he said.

He said that the operation is being conducted by a joint team of army’s 44 RR, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police.

The CASO was going on in the area when this report was filed.
