Gathering under the banner of Employees Joint Action Committee, the protesters marched from Nawa-i-Subah to TRC crossing, raising slogans and holding placards asserting that nothing short of regularisation would be acceptable.

The employees urged the government led by Omar Abdullah to fulfil commitments made to them, saying they have waited years for job security. The committee had held a similar demonstration earlier this month.

Officials estimates suggest more than 60,000 workers in Jammu and Kashmir continue to serve as daily wagers without permanent status.
