SRINAGAR: Panic has gripped residents of BK Pora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district after cattle thieves stole five cows from a local cowshed during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
The incident occurred in Pohru Teli Mohalla, where thieves broke into the cowshed of Ghulam Muhammad Teli and fled with his livestock. Villagers fear an organised gang is targeting cattle in the area.
Affected families, particularly those from poor backgrounds, have urged the administration and Jammu and Kashmir Police to take immediate action, recover the stolen cattle, and arrest the culprits.
“This is the holy month of Ramzan, a time for patience and righteousness, yet such incidents are causing distress in our community. We trust the police to act swiftly and ensure justice,” locals said. They also called on authorities to enhance security measures to prevent further thefts. [KNT]
