Cattle thieves from last many days have stolen scores of animals including cows, bulls and sheep in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Reports said that Supar, Tuli Nopora, Makanpora, Danau villagers have started spending nights in the premises of their houses as they are scared of losing their cattle. Locals told news agency CNS that thieves have so far stolen a number of cattle. They said police has not taken any cognizance of the incident so far.

Muhammad Ramzan, a local from Supar said that he lost two cows, “I was earning my livelihood by selling cow milk but now I will not be able to earn anything,” he said.

DSP Headquarters Shfat Ahmed has assured an investigation in the matter. “We have received only one complaint from an individual about cattle theft. We are investigating the matter and hopefully culprits will be identified and booked,” he told CNS.
