SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday conducted raids at various locations including the premises of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik’s press secretary Sunak Bali in the ‘insurance scam’ case.

The CBI raids are underway at nine locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, and Rajasthan, media reports suggest.

As per media reports, press Secretary Sunak Bali is the main suspect in two corruption cases that CBI has registered. CBI is conducting raids at the nine locations in connection with the case.

One of the cases pertains to allegations of irregularities in an insurance scheme. It was registered after Malik made allegations of attempts to bribe him in the matter.

In October 2021, Malik claimed that he was offered Rs 300 crore in bribes to clear two files including one related to an RSS leader.

Notably, in April last year, in relation to the Kiru hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir, CBI lodged two FIRs over corruption allegations leveled by Malik in the awarding of contracts for a group medical insurance scheme for government employees and civil work worth Rs 2,200 crore for the project.
