SRINAGAR: National Conference on Thursday reprimanded the state and central leadership for being incoherent on critical issues confronting the state especially on Art 35 A.

While addressing district committee meeting in Leh, party Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said, “It has been made crystal clear by both PDP and BJP that they are least interested in defending and fighting for the states special status. The dichotomy with which both parties are addressing this critical issue is, to say the least, dangerous and will invariably lead to irreparable damage to J&Ks Special Status and its state subjects.”

The provincial president expressed satisfaction over the way Ladakh and its people have reposed faith on party leadership who have time and again spoken on how Art 35 A is important for all the three regions of the state including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

“The wound inflicted on the State’s autonomy through extension of GST is still fresh. While Senior PDP leaders and the incumbent Finance Minister initially opposed extension of GST to the State, PDP eventually collaborated with the Central Government to decimate the State’s fiscal autonomy irrespective of its fake assertions that were portrayed earlier as alleged safeguards. It’s therefore important for all of us to remain vigilant and defeat the forces working tireless in dividing the state on basis of region and religion,” the provincial president further added.

Congratulating party district president for an impressive function at Leh, Nasir impressed upon the party functionaries to strengthen National Conference at grass root levels. He said, “Block committees of all the party wings including youth and women’s wing need to be announced at the earliest and other party wings operating elsewhere need to be augmented with those who are willing to join NC.”

Laying emphasis on building the successes from Jammu and Srinagar as far as youth are concerned, Nasir said, “We are the only party in the state with a functional and dynamic Youth and Women’s wing in both the provinces. The main focus of party outreach therefore has to be the youth of Leh who for long have been the pillars of our party in both provinces.”
