Following a central Jail Srinagar incident, in which two inmates were reportedly injured and at least three barracks and a building suffered damages amid a number of “gas cylinder blasts”, authorities have imposed restrictions in the old city to avoid any untoward incident.
Reports said that restrictions have been imposed for precautionary measures to avoid any law and order problem in old city areas.
Meanwhile, authorities have also throttled high-speed mobile internet to 2G in Srinagar city.
Earlier, two inmates were reportedly injured and at least three barracks and a building suffered damages amid a number of “gas cylinder blasts” inside Srinagar’s fortified central jail following massive protests by prison inmates.
Reports said that on Thursday late evening when authorities started to move some jail inmates from a particular barrack for their shifting “within the jail”, there was hue and cry as the inmates felt that they are being moved outside the state.
The inmates have allegedly burnt a temporary shelter and tried to come to the outer cordon of the jail which is located in the Srinagar’s downtown area of the city, reports claimed.
