Scores of locals including the siblings of Mohammad Ismail Shah, who was found dead in the Central Jail, Srinagar few days ago, from Churat, Qazigund Friday protested here and alleged that the police inside the central Jail are ‘responsible’ for Shah’s murder.

“The police inside central jail are responsible for this murder. See the police inside jail has done nothing in this regard—our brothers are not safe inside jails, how can we expect safety outside”, Bilal Ahmad, a local from Qazigund said.

Earlier the reports claimed that Shah, 40, was killed by Ghulam Hassan Malik, his jail mate by hitting on his head several times with stone. He was immediately shifted to SKIMS where he succumbed to his injuries.

Four years back, in September 2009, Malik was arrested in a murder case under section 302. He had killed his daughter in law and another person.

Police said that they have registered a case under 302 against Malik—the accuser.
