Central Kashmir: Police Arrest Absconder After 27 Years

   

SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal have traced and arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past 27 years.

The accused, identified as Lateef Ahmad Khuroo, son of Habibullah Khuroo and resident of Bemina, Srinagar, was wanted in connection with case FIR No. 69/1998 under Sections 457 and 380 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).

According to officials, Khuroo was apprehended during a special operation carried out by Ganderbal Police. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Court of the Judicial Magistrate (JMIC) Ganderbal for further legal proceedings.

Police said the successful arrest underscores their ongoing efforts to track down long-time absconders and uphold the rule of law. “Ganderbal Police reiterate their commitment to bringing all absconders and offenders to justice and maintaining peace and order in the district,” a spokesperson stated.
