Central Kashmir: Police Crack Blind Murder Case, Rescue Kidnapped Girl in 12 Hours

   

SRINAGAR: Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam on Friday said they solved a blind murder and kidnapping case within 12 hours, arresting the accused and rescuing a 15-year-old girl safely.

According to police, Police Station Khansahib received information at around 3:05 am about an accident at Chek Sheera in Khansahib, where an unidentified vehicle had allegedly run over a woman, resulting in her death.

Following the incident, FIR No. 96/2026 under Sections 125A and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Khansahib and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, police discovered that the deceased woman’s minor daughter had allegedly been kidnapped and that the woman was killed while attempting to prevent the abduction.

A special team led by the SDPO Khansahib launched an intensive probe, analysing CCTV footage and technical evidence. Police said the accused was traced and arrested from Parimpora in Srinagar, while the kidnapped girl was rescued safely within 12 hours of the incident.

Police added that relevant sections pertaining to murder and kidnapping were subsequently added to the case, while further investigation is underway.

Budgam Police said the swift detection of the case reflected prompt response, coordination and sustained efforts by the investigating teams to bring the accused to justice.
