SRINAGAR: Union Government on Saturday proposed an allocation of Rs 41,000.07 crore for Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2025-26.
As part of fund transfers for Union Territories, the Union Finance Ministry included this allocation in the Union Budget 2025-26. Budgetary figures indicate that there has been no increase in central assistance to J&K for the next fiscal year.
Of the Rs 41,000.07 crore allotted to JK, Rs 40,619.30 crore has been earmarked as central assistance to bridge the region’s resource gap.
The budget documents further reveal that Rs 279 crore has been proposed as grants towards contributions to the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund, while Rs 101.77 crore has been allocated for resource gap funding related to infrastructure projects.
For the ongoing fiscal year, the financial assistance for Jammu Kashmir has been revised to Rs 41,000.07 crore from the earlier allocation of Rs 42,277.74 crore. (KNO)
