SRINAGAR: The Union Government has amended the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 2026, replacing the provision allowing the Central Government to specify the wage limit with a fixed ceiling of Rs 15,000 per month.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment notified the amendment through Gazette notification G.S.R. 890(E), dated October 15, 2026, under Section 15(1)(b) of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
Under the amendment, paragraph 4(2) of the scheme has been revised to specify that the relevant wage limit shall be restricted to wages of up to Rs 15,000 per month. The amendment also removes the words “and the Central Government” from the first proviso to the sub-paragraph.
The notification states that the amendment will come into force retrospectively from September 17, 2026.
The Employees’ Pension Scheme, 2026, was originally notified on June 29, 2026, and was last amended on September 25, 2026, according to the Gazette notification.
