SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Mines on Tuesday launched the second tranche of limestone block auctions in Jammu and Kashmir during an event held in Srinagar, in a move aimed at tapping the Union Territory’s mineral resources and boosting industrial development.
Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s contribution to the Centre’s vision of Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat while promoting scientific mining and transparent utilisation of mineral resources.
According to officials, the latest round of auctions builds on the earlier rollout of mineral block auctions in the Union Territory and is expected to attract investment, generate employment opportunities and support industrial growth.
The auctions are also expected to improve the availability of raw materials for the cement and infrastructure sectors.
The Ministry of Mines reiterated its commitment to sustainable mineral development and economic progress in Jammu and Kashmir through a transparent auction-based system.
