SRINAGAR: The Centre has extended special concessions and incentives for Central Government employees working in the Kashmir valley till July 2021.

The move is aimed at encouraging more employees to work in the Valley. The incentives include departmental arrangements for stay, safety, security and transportation.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the concessions include an option for employees to move their families to a place of their choice in the country at government expenses. It said the incentives had been extended for a period of January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021.

The special grant also included departmental arrangements for stay, security and transportation to the place of work for employees, it said.

“The employees shall have an option to move their families to a selected place of their choice in India at government expenses and the transport allowance for the families are proposed to be allowed as admissible in permanent transfer inclusive of the Composite Transfer Grant at the rate of 80 per cent of the last month’s basic pay,” said the order.

The messing allowance was also paid to all the employees posted in Jammu and Kashmir at the rate of Rs 97.85 per day, the order said, adding, “Pensioners of the Kashmir valley, who are unable to draw their monthly pensions through either public sector banks or Pay and Accounts Officer (PAO) treasuries, would be given pensions outside the Valley where they have settled, in relaxation of relevant provisions,” it said.

The package of incentives was uniformly applicable to all ministries, departments and public sector undertakings under the Government of India and they should ensure strict adherence to the rates prescribed in the package, the order reads, reported newspaper The Tribune.
