SRINAGAR: The Union Government on Friday said it is promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a preferred filming destination through the India Cine Hub digital platform and promotional initiatives aimed at attracting domestic and international filmmakers, while facilitating film shooting permissions through a single-window online system.
In a written reply to an unstarred question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L. Murugan said film shooting permissions across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, are processed through the India Cine Hub (ICH), a single-window digital portal managed by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
The Minister said the portal showcases the filmic and non-filmic resources of all States and Union Territories, while applications for shooting permissions are processed online in coordination with designated nodal officers of the respective States and Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir.
The Government said the National Film Development Corporation also collaborates with State-level film festivals and other promotional platforms to showcase Jammu and Kashmir among national and international film producers.
According to the reply, these initiatives are intended to encourage film production and post-production activities in the Union Territory while promoting tourism, generating employment and attracting investment to the region.:::
