R K Chibber, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Bank, on Tuesday, met Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu.

The Lt Governor and Chibber discussed several important issues pertaining to the efficient functioning of the bank.

The Lt Governor stressed the high importance of maintaining discipline amongst the banks’ functionaries at all levels to nurture transparency and accountability in the functioning of the bank. He urged the Chairman to ensure close monitoring of the fiscal health of the bank and lead the bank in playing an important role in the development of the economy of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Justice (Retd) Permod Kohli, Member of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), also met Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu.

The Lt Governor and Kohli discussed a range of important issues relating to the management of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board

They also discussed about the necessary interventions required to augment the existing facilities for the pilgrims to make their pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine more comfortable.

Meanwhile, a deputation of Jammu and Kashmir Home Guards also called on the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu.

The deputation apprised the Lt Governor about their various issues and demands pertaining to fixation of their salaries and benefits at par with the other Union Territories and regions of the country and also demanded for providing them a regular duty.

The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured them that all their genuine demands will be taken up for examination for their early redressal.

The Lt Governor interacted with the deputation of the Real Kashmir Football Club and assured them that the present Government is committed to encourage the players and boost the sports culture in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

He observed that the Real Kashmir Football Club is doing a commendable job in encouraging the youth to take up sports like Football and providing them with a platform to showcase their talent.
