To address the issues and challenges confronting Self Help Groups in their Bank linkages, day-long workshop was organized by UMEED (NRLM) at JKEDI campus on Monday.

In the inaugural session, Resident Consultant (NMMU) informed the audience about the NRLM perspective and framework. RBI Representative RBI, Ashok Kumar Angural threw light on RBI guidelines complying with NRLM framework. He insisted, that bankers should adhere to the RBI guidelines in letter and spirit so that poor are benefited to a large extent, an official statement said this evening.

Dinesh Kapila, DGM NABARD emphasized on SHG Bank Linkage movement and role of different stakeholders, in particular the role of Banks. He further, deliberated that the attitude of the bankers must be facilitative in nature and coherent to meet the financial needs of the SHG.

The session concluded with detailed presentation by Mission Director NRLM, wherein he focused on the need of fair credit to poor which he said is prerequisite and imperative for successful and sustainable livelihood of SHGs. He also focused on the need to bridge the gap between UMEED (NRLM) and the banking community for effective implementation by having continuous deliberations.

The parameters that Bankers need to follow were detailed in different sessions to give in-depth analysis of SHG Bank Linkage. It paved way forward for all the stakeholders to learn and deliberate on issues and to come up with realistic outcomes.
