SRINAGAR: Passengers aboard Srinagar’s Smart City e-buses have voiced their concern regarding conductors’ refusal to acknowledge e-tickets produced through the Chalo App. Despite the buses being labelled as “smart,” passengers noted that conductors are declining to accept tickets bought via the Chalo App, leading to inconvenience in today’s digital age.

“I recently rode a Smart City bus and obtained a Chalo App e-ticket. However, the conductor outright rejected it,” Mohammad Yousuf, a passenger, said.

“To my disappointment, I had no option but to pay the fare again,” he lamented.

Another passenger revealed his experience of travelling from Srinagar to Chadoora. “I bought an e-ticket using the Chalo App and paid online. Sadly, the conductor refused to accept my ticket.”

In December 2023, Srinagar Smart City Ltd partnered with the Chalo App to provide e-bus facilities, including viewing schedules, tracking e-bus locations, and paying conductors through a smart wallet.

“However, these e-buses still don’t accept Chalo App tickets,” students boarding these buses daily complained.

Passengers urged Smart City authorities to promptly address the issue to ensure full benefits of the digital infrastructure.

An official from Srinagar Smart City assured that they will investigate the matter and resolve it promptly—(KNO)
