BADERWAH

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said change in the government is writing on the wall but the PDP aims at changing the entire system to ensure justice, development and increased opportunities of growth for all.

According to a statement addressing various public meetings in Baderwah constituency in Doda district, she said in order to make the change in the government purposeful and result-oriented, the PDP which is now leading the popularity chart, must receive a decisive mandate to take firm decisions to come down heavily on corruption and mismanagement of natural resources.

Mehbooba said all the regions and communities of the state are now eagerly waiting to become part of the change that is imminent after the collapse of the National Conference and Congress.

The PDP Chief said her party is having a positive agenda for the Jammu & Kashmir issue and the issues facing the state and it will revive the reconciliation, reconstruction, rehabilitation and development process it had started during its brief tenure in the government between 2002 -2005.

Mehbooba said the forthcoming assembly elections offer a historic opportunity to people to liberate themselves from the exploitation of the National Conference which has been thriving on their blood and misery since 1947. “You have to come out to vote for PDP for a bright future as both Congress and National Conference have done nothing for your betterment, empowerment till now,” Mehbooba said.

Mehbooba said PDP would change the political discourse of the state so as to be able to do justice to all sections of society, communities and regions. “We will try to restore the dignity of every individual from all the regions, communities and groups,” she said adding her party is having a vision for overall growth, development, welfare and political resolution of the state.

She said it is encouraging to see the people in Chinab Valley have made up their mind to taste the NC and Congress pill of its own misdeeds and malpractices in the assembly polls as is evident from the prevailing mood on the ground.

Referring to the local issues, Mehbooba said the Baderwah area after having remained the hub of education and intellectual activities even during pre-independence era has suffered deterioration in education facilities  due to lack of genuine representation and government concern. “Student community have to badly suffer here because of the lack of proper infrastructure and teaching staff in the education institutions,” she said and added that the PDP once vote to form the government will put in every effort to revive ‘Chota Kashmir’s’ uncelebrated glory.

She said road connectivity is the main problem in the area and the PDP will seriously work to address the issue on priority.

She said the loot and mismanagement of natural resources like water has badly affected the local ecology and environment with people having to live their life amid constant tremors and jolts. She said after sacrificing hugely, the locals are not even given proper electricity to light their homes not to talk about jobs in the hydroelectric projects in the area.
