A complete shutdown is being observed in central Kashmir’s Chrar-e-Sharief town Budgam district on Monday to protest against the government for not providing basic facilities.

The strike call was issued by local trade unions and falahi committees for today in order to press the government for the redressal of their “long pending” demands.

All shops, business establishments, educational institutions are closed in the town while public transport is off the roads, reports said.

The protestors alleged that the people of the town are being deprived from all the basic amenities like water, dumping sites, electricity, roads etc.

They added that despite government has made a commitment of developing the area and but till date none of the promises have been fulfilled.
