Srinagar

Pakistani gunners have resorted to shelling in Charunda hamlet near LoC in Uri, reports said. There were no loses reported.

Reports by local newsgathering agencies said the shelling started around noon. People fled to safety and panicked populace started running toewards the schools. Immediately the schools were off and all the five schools in the neighbourhood were locked.

This hamlet living on the foothills of the Haji Pir pass became the target of shelling from Pakistani position last month in which two persons were killed and few others were injured.

Though there were efforts of sorting out issues in a flag meeting, it has not taken place so far. India and Pakistan  have agreed to a ceasefire on LoC in 2003 and it has helped peace return in border areas. Any violationm from either side triggers a crisis.
