SRINAGAR: The residents of Baghi Nand Singh Chattabal Srinagar are yearning for a Community Centre in the locality for weddings and other social functions.

Locals said despite taking up the matter with the administration multiple times, nothing has been done.

A resident said, “Our area is very congested. There is a dire need for a community hall. People erect tents on roads during wedding ceremonies as the locality doesn’t have a public park either. This causes inconvenience to the commuters.”

“We request the administration to please sanction the construction of the community hall so that we don’t suffer.”

Local delegations have been meeting the district administration officials but to no avail.

Abdul Majid Sofi, President Local Intizamia Committee said, “A delegation of the Intizamia committee met the Srinagar Municipality Mayor some months back but nothing happened. We request the government to construct a community hall so that the people don’t have to face problems during weddings and other social gatherings.”

When contacted concerned ward officer said that it is up to the higher authority to take a decision on the matter.
