Paying glowing tributes to a luminary of freedom struggle of Kashmir and one of the founding members of Muslim Conference, late Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas on his anniversary, Hurriyat (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday said by standing up to the oppression and against the autocratic rule, he led the people on the path of Freedom and a life of respect and dignity.

In his message, the Mirwaiz said Muslim Conference founding members, Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas, Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah and other leaders were victimized and forced to migrate yet they continued to offer selfless sacrifices, thus registered their names in the history of Kashmir with golden letters.

He said these leaders would be always remembered by the people of Kashmir for their unflinching faith and commitment towards the freedom struggle.

Terming the freedom of Kashmir and the resolution of Kashmir issue the dream of these iconic leaders, he said their dreams would be actualized when the vexed Kashmir issue is resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

Hurriyat (m) chief said, “the people of Kashmir have been struggling since 1931 for the just cause of Kashmir resolution and during the past 27 years, Kashmiris had offered enormous sacrifices of life as well as property.”

Mirwaiz expressed confidence in the resolve of the people and said that they would exhibit ideological unity and remain steadfast in carrying forward the resistance movement to its logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, terming the arrests of unarmed civilian youth of Srinagar, Sopore, Baramulla and Palhallan as “state-sponsored terrorism”, a Hurriyat (m) spokesperson condemned the “government for the arrest spree and said it was shameful on the part of the government to present the juveniles and detained youth in handcuffs before the court as if they were any harden criminals”.
