Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu on Thursday.

Chief of the Army Staff, meets Lt Governor

He was accompanied by Lt. General Ranbir Singh, Army Commander Northern Command. It was his maiden visit to J&K after becoming the Chief of the Army Staff.

The Lt Governor and the Army Chief discussed several important inter-related issues concerning effective management of internal and external security, particularly in the context of attempts at infiltration and the ongoing anti-terrorist operations.

The Lt Governor lauded the Indian Army’s role in safeguarding the territorial integrity and the internal security of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir while conducting successful anti-terrorist operations in coordination with the J&K Police and Central Armed Police Forces in the hinterland.

Meanwhile, a delegation of J&K Gaddi Sabha also called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu.

The delegation led by Kuldeep Kumar projected various issues and demands pertaining to the welfare of the Gaddi and Sippi community including the establishment of Gaddi and Sippi Board, removal of anomalies in implementation of Schedule Tribes status, educational & political reservation, scholarship facilities to the Gaddi and Sippi students etc.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the members of the delegation observed that the government is working towards the welfare and development of every section of the society and assured them that all their genuine issues and demands would be taken up for examination for their early redressal.
