SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Monday reviewed the implementation of recommendations made by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to improve facilities at the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra base and transit camps, directing departments to ensure timely execution of measures aimed at enhancing pilgrim safety and comfort.
The recommendations were prepared by CAPF teams after ground assessments conducted during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 and cover facilities from Lakhanpur to the Holy Cave Shrine.
The high-level meeting was attended by senior officials from the civil administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), police, CAPFs, BRO/Beacon, divisional and district administrations, and other departments.
During the meeting, SASB Chief Executive Officer Dr Mandeep K Bhandari presented the observations and recommendations contained in the CAPF reports. Administrative secretaries and deputy commissioners briefed the Chief Secretary on the status of implementation and the timelines for completing the remaining works.
The recommendations include upgrading accommodation and basic amenities at base and transit camps, improving sanitation and hygiene, strengthening firefighting arrangements, waterproofing tents, and ensuring reliable power and water supply.
Officials also reviewed measures to improve hygiene at community kitchens (langars), washrooms and bathing facilities, strengthen drainage systems, and ensure safe electrical wiring at camps to minimise the risk of accidents.
The meeting further discussed improving queue management, preventing overcrowding, streamlining traffic movement, expanding parking facilities, and creating additional rain shelters along vulnerable stretches of the Yatra route.
Dulloo directed all departments and district administrations to examine each recommendation and ensure its prompt implementation, saying the safety and well-being of pilgrims remained the government’s top priority.
He also asked departments to maintain close coordination, regularly monitor progress and address any shortcomings identified during the ongoing pilgrimage so that arrangements are further strengthened for future Yatras.
