A child died when he was hit by a bullet, accidentally, in Rajouri on Sunday.
Reports reaching here said, the boy, identified as three-year-old Omeshwar, son of Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Narla Bambal village of Rajouri, died on the spot after suffering the injury.
“The gun belonged to child’s relative who works as a member of the village defence committee (VDC) in his native village. We have registered a case and confiscated the weapon, we are also trying to ascertain the reason as to how the gun went off,” the reports quoting an official said.
The body was handed back to family after all medical and legal formalities.
Meanwhile, police have started proceedings under CrPC 174 to ascertain the cause of the death.
