SRINAGAR: Indian army has detained a Chinese soldier in Eastern Ladakh on Friday, Tribune reported.

“The PLA soldier had transgressed across the LAC, in the area south of Pangong Tso lake and was taken into custody by Indian troops deployed in the area,” the newspaper reported. “The PLA soldier is being dealt with as per laid-down procedures and the circumstances under which he had crossed the LAC are being investigated.”

Late last year, a Chinese soldier has strayed into Ladakh and was arrested. He was later repatriated.

The rival armies are deployed in an eyeball to eyeball confrontation in eastern Ladakh since May 2020. There have been many clashes in which a number of soldiers from the two sides were killed.
