SRINAGAR: Renowned ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas, celebrated for his timeless classics like ‘Chitthi aayi hai’, has passed away after a prolonged illness, as confirmed by his family today. He was 72.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the sad demise of Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on 26 February due to a prolonged illness,” stated the Udhas family.

Born in Gujarat and trained in tabla at the Sangeet Natak Akademi in Rajkot, Pankaj Udhas captivated audiences worldwide with his melodious voice.
