CII Jammu Kashmir Annual Session 2025-26 Charts Roadmap for Economic Growth

   

SRINAGAR: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K UT Council organised its Annual Session for 2025-26, themed “Aspiring for New Growth Goals,” focusing on economic prosperity and sustainable development in the region.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K Omar Abdullah graced the event as the Chief Guest, while Shri Satish Sharma, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and ARI & Trainings, attended as the Guest of Honour.

CII J&K Chairman Syed Junaid Altaf, Executive Director of FIL Industries, welcomed the dignitaries and participants, highlighting CII’s role in industrial development and the transformative impact of J&K’s startup ecosystem. Madhav Singhania, Chairman of CII Northern Region and CEO of JK Cements Ltd., proposed forming a task force to help J&K transition from a $29 billion economy to a $60 billion economy within five years.

Minister Shri Satish Sharma emphasised the region’s economic potential in sports, healthcare, and border tourism. He advocated for innovative marketing strategies to promote Kashmir’s hospitality sector.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah commended J&K’s industrial resilience, urging businesses to focus on long-term sustainability beyond government subsidies. He proposed mechanisms to assess business viability beyond ten years and encouraged external investments for job creation and economic expansion. He also stressed the need for a genuine single-window clearance system to address bureaucratic hurdles in industrial approvals.

Vice Chairman Dr MA Alim thanked all participants, underscoring the event’s role in shaping J&K’s economic future.
