SRINAGAR: Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations in Kupwara, Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama districts of Kashmir on Thursday. These searches were executed based on a search warrant granted by the Court of Special Judge Designated under the NIA Act Srinagar, related to FIR No. 07/2023 U/S 153-A, 505, 506 IPC, 13, 18, 18-B, 39 UAPA, as confirmed by an official.
The case centers on what the official described as a “deep conspiracy” involving militant organisations and their associates in the Kashmir valley. These groups, along with their handlers abroad, have been accused of disseminating criminal content on various social media platforms. This content not only carries seditious undertones but also promotes an anti-India narrative, with the aim of glorifying militants and enticing impressionable youth to join terrorist ranks.
The official shared that during the preliminary investigation, it came to light that some individuals and entities were profiling those who took a different, independent stance against secessionists and terrorists, advocating for peace, order, and a violence-free society. These individuals were targeted for vilification and potential harm.
Furthermore, the official mentioned that these anti-national elements have also been targeting bona fide government servants in Kashmir, continuously issuing threats—both overt and veiled—to damage their personal reputation and properties, thereby hindering them from carrying out their lawful duties.
The investigation uncovered that through Facebook accounts, associates of terrorist organisations have been fostering animosity and discord among different religious and regional groups, goading young people into participating in significant acts of violence and disruption against the peace and tranquility of Kashmir.
During the search operation, incriminating materials, including electronic devices and other items pertinent to the investigation, were seized and recovered. The official stated that further analysis of this data would pave the way for more extensive investigative leads.
The primary goal of these searches, as stated by the official, is to dismantle the terrorist network in the valley by identifying elements that pose a threat to the state’s peace and security. These elements are believed to be actively supporting and abetting militants by drawing susceptible youth into the folds of extremist activities.
