National Conference Thursday expressed dismay at the continuous indifference by authorities in mitigating the problems faced by people in the city and its surrounding areas.

In order to take stock of the problems faced by people NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar visited Abi Nowpora Khanyar and held a public grievance meeting there where people from the adjoining areas raised issues concerning the area.

“A number of party workers and prominent citizens highlighted various local issues related to the area. Prominent among these were the abysmal condition of roads and the area community hall which has still not been renovated following the September 2014 floods,” an NC statement said this evening.

Sagar while addressing the people expressed anguish over the bad condition of city roads which have been macadamized last year only. He said, “In spite of spending crores of rupees, the roads have withered away in just over a year. This speaks volumes about the intention of the then PDP-BJP government who had promised that the concerned contractor is liable to maintain the roads for a period of three years,” adding, “Seeing the condition of the roads makes one wonder what happened to all that talk and rhetoric by PDP and its leaders. As has been the case with PDP and its promises, this too became a part of their lies.”

Demanding immediate intervention of the authorities concerned, Sagar said, “The employees and students fail to make to their work places and educational institutions, respectively, on time as the public transport takes ages to manoeuvre through such dilapidated roads. Even a small downpour inundates the roads and it becomes immensely difficult for the pedestrians to walk.”

Assuring the people of all possible help Sagar also announced that the flood hit marriage hall would be renovated on priority basis thorough his constituency development fund (CDF).
