Srinagar

Calling the civil secretariat graveyard of fundamental rights and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir, incumbent Langate lawmaker and Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Er Rasheed has said that party will hold a peaceful march towards civil secretariat followed by a sit-in on the eve of opening of civil secretariat and other offices in Srinagar on Monday May 8.

In a statement issued here, Rasheed said, “The protest march will be held to raise voice against the conspiracies aimed at diluting the Muslim character of the state, use of brutal force against people of the state seeking political resolution to Kashmir dispute, slapping PSA on political activists, brutalities against students and failure of the government to provide even nominal governance.”

Appealing people to join the march, Rasheed said that this is the high time to wake up and stop New Delhi from dictating over every issue. “Who doesn’t know that the government in Jammu and Kashmir is not run from the civil secretariat by Mehbooba Mufti and her puppet Ministers but the junior rank officers of Home and Defence Ministries besides few intelligence officers sitting in Delhi, with a remote control in the hands of their bosses in south block.”

Rasheed said: “Being not communal doesn’t mean that one should keep mum over those well-crafted conspiracies against the majority community which have reduced the number of Muslim officers in both civil and police administration to a nominal level. The civil secretariat has become graveyard of fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir. It is irony that while common masses are begging for Sadak, Paani and Bijli, Crores are being spent on renovation of bungalows of bureaucrats and ministers and huge money is being wasted in the name of decorating and beautification of roads leading of the offices and residences of these white elephants.”

Rasheed cautioned Kashmiris against the designs of New Delhi and added that protest march on the eve of opening of secretariat in Srinagar is to remind Mehbooba Mufti of her duties towards the majority community besides sending New Delhi a tough message that Muslim dominated character of Jammu and Kashmir will be protected at all costs.
