As Kashmir is observing a shutdown on the first anniversary of 2014 September floods which devastated the valley, a civilian was killed on Line of Control early Monday.

Reports reaching here said that four other were injured as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district in Jammu region.

Reports said that a civilian was killed and four injured as Pakistani troops allegedly pounded forward posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control in Poonch district with heavy shelling and firing, forcing army to retaliate.

The firing from across the border was going on since 11 pm yesterday.

“Army carried out effective retaliation resulting in exchanges which were going on when reports last came in from the area,” they said.
