Jammu and Kashmir on Friday issued the following statement regarding the killing of a civilian in south Kashmir saying that today at about 2045hrs Kulgam police received information about a crime incident in Redwani area of district Kulgam where militants had fired on a civilian. Senior police officers reached the crime spot.
“The injured civilian identified as Mehraj Din Bhat was evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. However, he succumbed to his injuries,” said the statement.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. An investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on, said a police spokesman in a statement.
