SRINAGAR: Three men, including a resident of Punjab, were injured in a shooting incident that occurred after a clash between two groups near a bus stand in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district along the India-Pakistan border early on Monday, according to officials.

Two individuals from Punjab were also detained in relation to the shooting near the Rangoor bus stand at approximately 4 am.

Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh visited the scene and is overseeing the investigation. The officials stated that they are exploring all possible angles, including drug smuggling.

Tosh commented, “A shooting incident occurred, resulting in injuries to three individuals. We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.” Based on preliminary investigations, the officials revealed that the three individuals from Punjab arrived in Rangoor in a vehicle registered in Chandigarh and allegedly opened fire on some locals.

The clash and subsequent shooting incident may have been motivated by old rivalries and animosity, the officials added.

The injured parties, identified as Sunil Kumar (25), Sunil Kumar (23), both locals, and Sunny Kumar (30) from Amritsar, Punjab, were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu. The officials also reported that Satinderpal Singh and Jagpreet Singh, both residents of Taran Taran in Punjab, were detained in connection with the incident
