Intense clashes erupted between civilian protesters and forces in Tral town of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday, sources said.
The clashes followed a gunfight which started between militants and government forces at Gulab Bagh village in Tral. The gunfight erupted after forces and militants encountered each other in the village.
Soon after the gunfight started the shopkeepers in Tral town pulled down their shutters and scores of protesters hit the streets pelting stones on forces triggering clashes.
Sources said two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
