Intense clashes erupted between protesters and forces in Aripal village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday, sources said.
Reports said that scores of protesters including women assembled and pelted stones on forces as the news of gunfight spread in the area.
They said the forces responded by firing teargas canisters to disperse the protesters. The clashes were going on when this report was filed.
Earlier a gunfight broke out after Army’s 42 RR, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search-operation after specific inputs about the presence of militants in Aripal village.
The operation was underway when the reports last came in.
