Srinagar

Massive clashes erupted between the students of Government Degree Handwara and Kupwara with government forces on Thursday in view of civilian and militant killings in south Kashmir.

Reports said that the students raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans tried to take out a protest rally.

However, police and paramilitary forces intercepted them and fired tear gas to disperse them.

However, the students regrouped and fought pitched battles with the forces.

Notably, educational institutions were opened today after four days of suspension of classwork following the killings of 13 militants and four civilians in south Kashmir and one civilian in Kangan on Sunday.

More details awaited.
